MBC-SWS Enterprise Survey on Corruption

The Enterprise Survey on Corruption is a project of the Makati Business Club (MBC) and Social Weather Stations (SWS). Every fourth quarter of the year since 2000, SWS interviews managers from top 1,500 corporations or large corporations, as well as small and medium enterprises on their perception and experience of corruption in both public and private sectors.

The latest, 4th Enterprise Survey, was conducted from 13 November 2003 to 28 January 2004 with 701 companies from Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao. In preparation for the survey, MBC and SWS also conducted focus group discussions in Manila, Cebu and Davao.

• What proportion of enterprises is asked for a bribe in relation to a transaction with government, and in relation to taxes and licenses?
